Dog Sitting Swap

Dog-Sitting Swap

No one wants to leave their dog at a kennel or beg a friend to watch it when they go on a trip. Do these concerned dog lovers a favor and create a dog-sitting swap organization, where each of the member dog owners will agree to take care of each other's dogs while they are on vacation.

Create a dog-sitting swap organization where dog owners take care of each other's pets while they are on vacation. Simply charge a membership fee to those who want to join. You can charge a yearly fee from $35-$100. Organize the sittings by giving the sitters credits. You will need to keep all of this information organized and have a way to send it to your members. That could be accomplished by mail, email, or a member website.

We all know that having a dog is a wonderful enjoyment, but there are times that we have to make provisions for them when we are forced to travel without them, or spend some time in a hospital or many other times that it isn't appropriate to bring your dog with you. To belong to a group of people that love dogs also and are happy to watch other peoples dogs occasionally, could be just what they are looking for.

In order to make sure that some people don't abuse the dog sitting provision it is important to establish some way of making sure that everyone receives equal amounts of services. Maybe 10 credits to begin with when they join, then subtract 2 points from each member, for each day a member's dog is watched. The watcher will gain 2 points per day and the dog owner will lose 2 points for every day their dog is watched. If anyone gets down to zero points, they need to watch some ones dog to earn more points again.

You will need a reliable way to keep all of this information organized and have a way to send it to each of your members. You could choose to accomplish this by mail, email, or a member website, what ever works best for you to keep track and inform your members regularly.

This is such a good way for dog owners to get to know other dog owners in their areas too. They will automatically have dogs in common to start with and may find that they have more things in common after they get to know each other.

Once you have established you membership site you may want to allow a place on the site for your customers to leave comments about various sitters they have used and why they would be happy to use them again. This could be reassuring to new ones that are nervous about leaving their pet with someone they don’t know yet.

You could also include a regular newsletter for all of your subscribers with helpful articles on the care and maintenance of their various pets. Tell them where local parks are that they can visit with their pets and fun things going on that they might like to share with their pets.

Leave advertisements in local pet stores, coffee shops, anywhere that people with pets might frequent. It is a good idea to leave information with your local veterinarians offices also, let them know about your services, they will probably be happy to pass the information on to their customers.
