Baby Naming
Baby Naming
Choosing a name for a child is incredibly difficult and some couples even fight over what the child's name will be. It is hard to choose a strong name which will serve the child well for their whole life, not just through childhood. Parents want it to be beautiful, have meaning, etc. Offer really unique, exotic, foreign names, with meanings if possible. You can even make up some names by splitting two names in half and combining them such as in Saramanda - Sarah and Amanda. One business does exactly this and charges $24.95 for six names.
When a couple is expecting a baby, it should be a wonderful time for them and it should be as enjoyable as possible. For the parents, nine months can seem like forever, but with a baby on the way, there are many preparations involved, before the baby arrives. However, more important than the planning of decor and childcare, the couples first need to start discussing names. This usually starts early in the pregnancy. For some couples this is incredibly difficult and some couples even fight over what the child's name will be.
How about helping out these couples that just cannot agree on a name for their coming new arrival to the family. Help spare couples the disappointment that they will feel after choosing a name that later they wish they hadn't chosen. Help them to choose a name they will use and hear for the rest of their lives. These couples may have already looked for a name in the typical baby-name books. There are many of these books at local bookstores and libraries. The problem with these books is that they are filled with typical, well-known names. Most people are getting tired of the same old names, heard repeatedly over many generations.
For couples that would like help in finding genuinely unique, exotic, or foreign names with meanings, make it possible by offering such names. You can even make up some names by splitting two names in half and combining them, such as the name, Mattlee - Matthew and Lee. Many times, finding names in other languages can be just what they are looking for, or names not commonly used very often in their own language. Be sure to research ancient names and words from other cultures and languages. Give thought to words from other languages that might explain, or mean, something special in another language. An example of this would be the name Shalishah. (It means 'third part' in Hebrew).
Use the internet to connect with your customers. Open a website that can offer help to these couples. There are many different ways to offer your services and you have several choices with regard to pricing. Consider allowing access to your site for a full 6 months, or 3 months at a time? Also, offer couples helpful tips to help them with the decision making process. In the end, this will benefit not only the parents, but also the child that will carry the name for an entire lifetime. For instance, when choosing a name, they might think of giving a more traditional name as a second name, just in case their child doesn't like their unusual first name later in life. As another tip, you might remind them that they need to think of how cruel other children can be if a name is hard to understand or pronounce by others. They should also give thought to what their name may be shortened to when used as a nickname. These cruel 'nicknames' can stick very quickly, so parents need to prepare for this when choosing a name for their child.
Choosing names for my five children was easy for me, but my husband did not like any of the names that I had chosen, so I learned to start thinking of names early in the pregnancy. With our first child, we had agreed on a name for a girl in my 5th month of pregnancy, and then just weeks before delivering, my husband stated that he didn't like the name after all. In a panicked state of mind, I accepted his choice of a name; my name spelled and pronounced differently, with a different middle name. It still is a constant source of confusion, even for people that have known us for many years.
