For most people though it is just so hard to remain motivated enough to maintain a regular workout schedule or routine. They need help to stay the fitness course! You can help people reach their weight and fitness goals and be happier with their bodies!
Become a fitness trainer and help people become fit, gain muscle, stay in shape, and stay healthy. Being a self-employed personal fitness trainer will allow you to set your own hours and be your own boss! You can train privately or train through a local gym. It depends on the type of schedule you would prefer and the type of environment you would prefer to work in.
Diet and nutrition play a role in overall health and is almost as important as a persons' chosen exercise routine. You don't have to look like a bodybuilder to be a successful fitness trainer but you should definitely be living the kind of healthy lifestyle that sets a good example for your potential clients.
Most fitness trainers work with a client for a set time, for a set fee. Some fitness instructors charge their clients per session and others charge based on a fitness goal or by a set number of training sessions that may occur over a period of time, such as a week or a month. Deciding on a billing style is entirely up to you.
You will likely need to have some sort of certification. If you are already affiliated with a particular gym or health club, you should contact them and find out what kinds of certificates they require for their fitness trainers. You will need to contact the owner or manager of each club or gym to set up an interview to let them know that you would like to operate as a fitness instructor or personal fitness trainer within their gym or club.
If you would rather visit clients in their homes for one-on-one personal training sessions, you will likely need to have some sort of certification to reassure your clients that you know what you are doing and that you are the best person to aid them in achieving their fitness goals. There are more than 300 different types of certifications available and there are many areas of fitness training specialties. Some trainers specialize in fitness nutrition or endurance training and others specialize in specific forms of exercise such as yoga or a specific form of martial arts.
You can obtain certification from many sources, both online and at local teaching institutions. It all depends on which type of certification you would like to pursue. You should really do some research based on your particular fitness interests and find the type of certification that best suits you, your circumstances, and the types of clients you would like to train or work with. Some certifications take a long time to obtain, such as a Bachelor's degree, which can take four years. Others are quicker and require considerably less education and time to obtain. For instance, many beauty schools and beauty colleges offer courses on fitness training.
Once you have obtained your certification and have begun to provide clients with personal fitness training, you will find that word-of-mouth is one of the quickest ways to increase your client base. Another idea for getting your name out there is to print up flyers letting people know that there is someone in their community available to help them personally achieve their health and fitness goals. Once you have established yourself in the community, you can eventually hire a circle of other fitness trainers and match them up with clients, earning a commission for each lesson.
