Make Homemade Treats For Locals

Make Homemade Treats for Locals

You may have seen them in local small stores. Treats and other goodies made by a local. Homemade foods and products made from those in your community. So, if you have an extraordinary recipe or an innovative way to make a certain product - get to it. Make plenty, and bring them to your local stores. Wrap or contain them the way you would if selling, and save some for the storeowners to taste. Hit every shop in your town, even the chain stores. Sell to your community!

When you are looking to start your own business, you should definitely consider this exciting opportunity. It is a general rule, that people love homemade treats and they will be far more likely to purchase something that is homemade, than commercially produced. I will use myself as an example, I love caramel, just simply love it. The only problem is, it has to be soft and chewy, have you purchased caramel at a store lately and noticed how hard it is? We have to actually place the commercial caramel into the microwave for a few seconds to soften it up.

A few years ago, I was at my local gas station and while paying for gas, I noticed a nice basket along side the cash register. This basket was full of homemade treats and goodies, neatly displayed and each type wrapped attractively in wax paper, with the name of each one handwritten on a white sticker. I noticed a caramel, I bought one, and it was the best caramel I had ever had. Not only was it good, but it was soft and just melted in my mouth. Needless to say - I went back and bought more and more and more.

Now if you are good in the kitchen and have a knack for baking or making sweets, this could be the ideal business venture for you. It does not have to be an expensive thing at first, you can simply make what you want, wrap it up in wax paper, or clear wrap and sell it. You do not have to make it fancy, because trust me, people absolutely love homemade treats. You will find yourself having to keep up with the demand.

Now do not think you are limited to caramel? You are by no means limited to anything. Let your creative side flow, you can create candy, fudge (of many different types), cookies, brownies, and cakes (of many different types). All you simply have to do is spend a day or two in the kitchen, doing what you do best and you will have no problems in selling your yummy items.

As stated earlier, you do not have to spend a great deal of money in making the items. You can just wrap them and go, however, if you wanted to you could become creative with your packaging. Try using different color wrapping or ribbon to make the package look a bit more attractive. You can simply write the price and type on a label or make it neater by printing the label on your computer. One thing you will definitely want to do is put your business name, address, and telephone number on the item (or URL). This will tempt people to contact you when they need something special or just simply want more.

To market your products, place them in a nice basket (it does not have to be big, but room enough to hold your products) and visit the local storeowners in your town. Visit all of the gas stations, convenient stores, and even major chain establishments. Make sure you bring a sample of your product for them to try. If you convince them you have a wonderful product, they will be more willing to test and display it. Offer samples for your customers also, once they taste a sample they will likely buy more!
