Real Men Don T Cook Quiche

Real Men Don’t Cook Quiche? Think Again

Recently I met a man who is every woman’s dream come true. As a matter of fact, he makes a living fulfilling one of the most urgent needs of any busy wife, mother, or working woman. In fact, Luke is a member of one of the fastest growing legitimate small businesses in America. I know what you are thinking. You have it all wrong. He is not doing anything illegal, immoral, or unethical. He is a personal chef!

If you visit Chef Luke’s website you will see the top ten reasons you need a personal chef. (I won’t admit to how many of those reasons apply to me.) But when I read, “Planning dinner means looking to see which restaurant’s drive-through line is the shortest, when you drive by” I laughed out loud. I have been there more times than I care to count.

Imagine the busiest week of your life. For my family it was right before Christmas. After shuttling my crew to seven Christmas performances, a preschool concert, three basketball games, gymnastic lessons, two parties, and last minute shopping, I was seriously rethinking my position on cloning.

How wonderful it would have been to come home from the game/performance/party/concert and been welcomed by the savory scent of pork chops with apple rings or lemon-pepper baked fish. Instead, I ended up with an assortment of greasy paper bags and cold smashed French fries carpeting the family taxi.

Wouldn’t it have been a surprising treat to serve my family quiche or crepes in the morning rather than a box of stale doughnuts someone opened and then forgot to close? It’s pretty sad that the best hot meal my kids ate that week came from the school cafeteria.

Next time my schedule gets too crazy, I am giving Chef Luke a call. After determining menu preferences and dietary needs, my personal chef will plan the meals, make the grocery list and (this is the part I really love) do the shopping. Then he will come to my house, prepare the meals, and even clean up his own mess. There are days I would hire someone just to clean the kitchen, let alone shop and cook for me.

For around $300, my family can eat like kings for a week.

For a person with a little culinary skill and a desire to fulfill one of the most basic needs of any person, becoming a personal chef may be the ideal job for you. The overhead and start-up costs are low. You will need to have a food-handler’s license and, perhaps, a business permit. Both can be obtained from your local governmental agencies. Advertising could be done via website, brochures, classifieds, and best of all, through word-of-mouth. By typing “personal chef” into your search engine, you will find several websites to help you get started.

Be your own boss, cash in on doing something you love, and make people very happy at the same time. What a delicious idea business idea!
