After home schooling 3 children, it was obvious to me that there is an enormous need for a reliable resource to turn to on the Internet. Finding good reliable information, resources, tips, and advice is clearly needed. Home schooling is a sizeable task to take on by a parent, the more information and sources of help from other home school parents the better.
Home schooling is estimated to be growing about 7% per year. In the year 2004 the estimates were from 1.1million to 2.1 million Kindergarten-12th grade students being home schooled in the United States during 2003. This shows there is a huge number of people that are responsible for the schooling of their own children, possibly a million. These are only the statistics for one country; this is a worldwide movement growing quickly. This means that you could possibly help many millions of people looking for help to home school their children.
Create a website just for them - a membership website where Home schooling parents can share stories, tips, advice, etc. Be sure to make the site user friendly. There are many sites to look at on the web, but they are cluttered and confusing. Make your website stand out as a site that can help with the needs of the parents and students, all at the tip of their fingers from your site to help them. Allow them to post questions for others to answer too. Offer other sites for them to use also. Many sites can be used free and help parents and students with math problems, science questions and much more. Keep updating these useful sites for their use.
You can also offer products to your subscribers, see if some companies will offer them a discount if they reach the sites through your site. You also have the opportunity to make small amounts of money each time your subscribers use a link offered on your site. These small amounts can add up quickly to large profits.
You could offer your website as a membership site, asking about $10 per month for membership. Make sure that you can convince them that they will not regret the monthly fee because you will be able to offer more savings than that to them every month. Post pages that the children can use from your site for areas in Art, Science facts, Crossword puzzles, and Math puzzles - the ideas of things you can offer are endless.
This could be such a fun site to offer, especially if it is something that you have an interest in yourself. If you are a home schooling parent or former student familiar with home schooling, it could be helpful too. The potential of a successful business in this area is great.
For an idea of the investment involved, the major investment would be in building an excellent website that suits your needs. Then getting the word out about your site, this may require some advertising at first in home schooling magazines and sites that sell books for homeschoolers.
