It is imperative to learn these first steps, or rules of movement, if one wants to learn chess. So of course, you should be adept enough to teach all of this to your students!
You will have to advertise your chess classes and teaching offer as though many people want to learn about chess, not all will be aware of chess classes. So, advertise on the internet and make some pamphlets to distribute in schools, vocational institutes, and recreational clubs. People interested in learning chess are sure to frequent these places. Of course, placing an ad in the yellow pages too proves to be rather beneficial.
Of course, this business proposal for you requires the minimal investment. All you will need is a chess set and classroom if you plan to give offline classes. However, if you intend to travel to clubs or houses to teach chess, or to teach online chess, then this too will not be required. All you will need is a space to place your computer and an internet connection. However, if you choose to allocate certificates upon completion of the course, you will have to register your school of arts with the government and based on the school name, you could make and distribute certificates.
You do not actually need to have an accomplice, or helper, as you can very well manage numerous students at a time through the internet. Even if you teach offline chess, you can easily teach a few students at a time. So, just imagine the prospective income you can generate with these chess classes of yours!
